Car Bomb in Peshawar Kills 90, Injures 200+

A car bomb killed more than 90 and injured more than 200 in  Peshawar, Pakistan. Peshawar, located in northwestern Pakistan, is the closest large city in Pakistan to the border of Afghanistan. It is the most deadly bombing in Pakistan this year. Attacks have increased in recent months since Pakistan’s army has begun a major security offensive against the Taliban in northwestern Pakistan. The bomb detonated shortly after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in the capital city of Islamabad to meet with Pakistani leaders, Voice of America. Taliban militants wearing suicide vests and police uniforms stormed a guest house used by U.N. workers in Kabul this morning. 40 people were staying at the house; 12 are dead. Attacks have increased in Afghanistan recently in an attempt to undermine next month’s runoff presidential election, Associated Press.

2,000 kidnapped children have been recovered in China in  a sixth month effort to rescue children from child traffikers. Children in China are kidnapped by criminal gangs and sold to childless couples or are sold as labor. A national DNA database has been set up to track missing children, BBC News.
