First Guantanamo Detainee to be Tried in NYC

The first Guantanamo detainee to face a civilian trial has arrived in New York City where the trial will be held. Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, a Tanzanian national, is accused of involvement in bombing of US embassies in Tanzania and Kenya. Air France has agreed to replace the sensors that are believed to have been a factor in last week’s crash of Flight 447 on all of its Airbus A330 and A340 airplanes, CNN.

Indian students have united to protest racially-motivated attacks. Australia is home to approximately 90,000 Indian students. In Melbourne, a city of 4 million, attacks on Indians account for 30% of assaults, Times of India. About 200 Indians marched with hockey sticks and baseball bats in Sydney last night. The group attacked three Lebanese men in retaliation for an attack on an Indian man by a group of men of “Middle Eastern descent,” Telegraph.
