North Korea Preparing Rocket Launch

North Korea is planning to launch its long-range rocket within days, says the U.S. military. The communist country has begun fueling the rocket and officials believe a satellite is attached to the rocket, which North Korea has claimed. It is believed that this launch will give North Korea valuable ballistics information and could aid the country in building a missile that could each the west coast of the United States, CNN.

It is feared that 16 have perished in a helicopter in the North Sea, off the coast of Scotland. 8 bodies have been recovered thus far and at least 10 people on board were crew members of KCA Deutag, a drilling company, BBC News.

The U.S. Justice Department has dropped all charged against Republican Senator Ted Stevens. Stevens was charged with seven counts of concealing gifts, which added up to over $250,000. This happened during his reelection campaign, normally an easy win for a 40-year veteran of the Senate, but he lost by just 4,000 votes to Democrat Mark Begich. Attorney General Eric older said the charges were dropped because prosecutors had failed to turn over evidence to the Senator’s attorneys, NPR.
